Decide the loss in stock terms
Your trade idea is invalidated at a price of the stock, so that is where the stop belongs. An option stop set on premium alone moves with volatility and time decay, and can trigger while the stock is still inside your plan, or fail to trigger when it is not.
With OptionTrigger the stop-loss is a line on the underlying chart. Choose wick to react to a touch, body to wait for a closed bar on a chosen timeframe, or hybrid to wait for a close but still react to a larger adverse move.
Size from a budget, not a feeling
Decide what the position may cost before choosing the contract. AutoSize proposes a contract and quantity from the budget and sizing preferences you configure. It does not forecast returns or judge your risk tolerance; review its suggestion before every entry.
Scale out at planned targets
Multiple take-profit levels let you sell part of the filled position at each stock-price target, for example half at the first target and the rest at the second. A trailing stop can then follow the stock in your favor.
A broker bracket order is normally attached to the option itself, so its levels are option prices. Keeping partial targets and the trailing stop on the underlying is the gap OptionTrigger is built to close.
Know what a trigger cannot promise
A stock-price trigger is a condition, not a fill price. The option spread, liquidity, order type, fast markets and gaps all affect what you receive. Stale, delayed or missing option quotes block execution instead of trading on bad data.
Automatic exits depend on Desktop, its local backend, the chart data source and the IBKR connection staying up. Watch the health indicators, and treat a red or gray state as something to resolve, not as hidden protection.
Practice the failure cases
Use DEMO or an IBKR Paper account to rehearse a partial fill, a cancelled entry, a manual exit and a reconnect before trading live. After a restart, the engine reconciles broker orders and positions before it resumes, and may ask you to confirm catch-up orders.
