What actually happens between clicking "Submit" and seeing a fill? Understanding this chain helps you troubleshoot when things go wrong.

  • No cloud dependency: Unlike webhook services, there's no external server between you and your broker. If your internet is up and TWS is connected, orders work.
  • Bracket orders are native: TWS receives a single bracket order, not three separate orders. If the parent fills, TP and SL are automatically live.
  • Credentials stay local: Your IBKR username/password never touch OptionTrigger servers — they only exist in the TWS/Gateway login session on your machine.

Common execution pitfalls and how to avoid them

Pitfall 1: Trading without confirming data entitlements
