SSL Certificate Guide
Troubleshoot SSL certificate issues for secure communication between the extension and backend
SSL certificates enable secure communication between the OptionTrigger extension and backend. This guide helps you install and troubleshoot certificate issues.
Why SSL?: Browsers require HTTPS for secure connections to local services.
Installing the Certificate
Open OptionTrigger Desktop
Launch OptionTrigger Desktop application.
Enter Password
Enter your system password when prompted.
Verifying Installation
macOS
Open Keychain Access and search for "OptionTrigger".

Windows
When prompted by the certificate import wizard, select "Place all certificates in the following store" and choose "Trusted Root Certification Authorities".
Common Issues
Certificate Not Trusted
- Re-run the installation
- Restart your browser
- Clear browser cache
Connection Still Fails
- Check Backend is running
- Verify port 8111 is open
- Try a different browser
Manual Certificate Trust (macOS)
If automatic installation fails:
- Open Keychain Access
- Find the OptionTrigger certificate
- Double-click to open
- Expand Trust section
- Set to Always Trust
